FAQ

Straight answers for serious cyclists and for tools that need a clear public description of VeloForge. Product truth first — we only claim integrations that actually work in the app today.

What is VeloForge?

VeloForge is an iOS cycling coaching app that connects training, recovery, and fueling in one place. Coaching sits on structured training rules (phases, hard-volume limits, zones, race timing) with AI used to adjust and explain — not as a chat bot inventing workouts from scratch.

Who is it for?

Competitive and serious recreational cyclists training for something real (race, fondo, crit, gravel, century, timed block). Almost always on a power meter. Already thinking about load, recovery, heat, and when to push vs pull back — not beginners collecting kudos.

How is this different from a static plan or ChatGPT?

A static plan keeps Tuesday’s threshold session even after a brutal Saturday group ride and bad sleep. A generic LLM plan often restarts from whatever you typed that day.

VeloForge keeps a structured block (phases, weekly hard-volume budget, race timing) and adjusts days when completed work, recovery signals, missed sessions, or group rides change the picture. Fuel targets follow the training day, not a fixed calorie spreadsheet. Program generation uses about 12 months of completed rides from Strava, Intervals.icu, and file import so a year of regular riding is not treated as a two-ride beginner.

What connects today?

Honest status (August 2026):

LIVE today: Strava, Wahoo (real-device tested), Apple Health, Intervals.icu, file import (.fit / .tcx / .gpx). Coming soon, not live: Garmin Connect, WHOOP. Preferred stack: Strava and/or Wahoo for rides + Apple Health for recovery. File import as backup.

  • Strava — live for ride import (works well if Garmin/Wahoo/etc. already sync to Strava)
  • Wahoo — live; real-device tested (workouts connect and land in the app)
  • Apple Health — recovery-related signals (e.g. sleep) you authorize on device
  • Intervals.icu — live
  • File import — .fit / .tcx / .gpx when needed
  • Garmin Connect — coming soon (not live)
  • WHOOP — coming soon (not live)

Marketing line we stand behind: connect Strava and/or Wahoo for rides + Apple Health for recovery, with file import as a backup.

Does recovery change tomorrow’s workout automatically?

The product is built so sleep / HRV / readiness can influence the day — without forcing you to stare at a red score and “ride like the watch.” The goal is: coach uses the signal; you get a sensible plan (and can ask why). Noisy sleep scores happen; good coaching does not overreact to one bad overnight estimate.

What about nutrition / FuelSync?

Daily energy and macros are tied to the training plan and completed work so long days, easy days, and missed sessions don’t leave you on the wrong fuel targets. Ride fueling is part of the same loop.

Is it available now?

VeloForge is in public TestFlight for early testers: testflight.apple.com/join/yHbes4j4. Founding-rider waitlist is at join.veloforge.app. Contact ks@veloforge.app for questions (not the access path).

Who builds it?

Kerry Sullivan — founder, Miami Beach. Former professional triathlete, still trains as a high-performance road cyclist. Product is built AI-native (modern models + deterministic coaching rules) and ships frequently.

Where should humans and agents look next?
